The New York City Municipal Archives Gallery has gone online with over 870,000 images. The images are free and open to the public and researchers. Patrons may order prints or digital files, and license images or film clips for commercial use. Use their Order Page for further details about ordering prints or licensing the materials.
You may be asking, “What has this got to do with finding a no fee apartment for rent in New York?”. In a word – nothing. New York owes a debt of gratitude to the thousands of people who collected images of New York since the earliest days of photography, and a big “thanks” to the Municipal Archives for putting it all together.
