This is sad. A renter/victim of a craigslist scammer put his/her dog to sleep when the building with an apartment being “offered” in the scam was said not to allow dogs.
MyFoxNY.com is reporting:
The NYPD is seeking the public’s assistance with the whereabouts of Peter Kim who is wanted in connection to a series of rental scams at a building in Sunnyside, Queens.
On Thursday, March 01, 2012, 12 victims were told they could move in to 43-01 46th Street after exchanging money with the suspect days before for an apartment that he advertised on “Craig’s list”.
Kim did not have permission or authority to rent the apartment.
One victim who showed up to move in had put one of his dogs to sleep when Kim allegedly told him the building would not allow large dogs.
Peter Kim, 31, (AKA Michael Hong) is described as approx. 5′ 8″ in height, 130-150 lbs.
Anyone with information in regards to Peter Kim and these incidents is asked to call Crime stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
