Alyssa, my co-worker at RDNY.com’s Listings Dept, came into work today a very happy girl. She spent Saturday and Sunday at the Big Apple BBQ Block Party at Madison Square Park where she totally indulged herself, BBQ-wise. I’ve never met anyone get as excited about grilled meat as Alyssa does.

Alyssa swore she could smell the aroma from 31st Street (where she lives) and made sure her friends rendezvoused at 9am so they’d be first in line. She brought the official program to show us the map of the BBQ stations [click here to enlarge], the desert stations, and the live music stages. The heat didn’t bother her but she had to take the Virginia Brunswick Stew in a go-container because it was one meat dish too much for a hot day in the park. Alyssa had it for lunch on Monday.
Snapple has sponsored the event since 2003 and all proceeds benefit the Madison Square Park Conservancy.
Fun stuff happens all summer long at Madison Square Park. Every Wednesday near sundown (about 8pm), there’s live music near the Shake Shack, which Alyssa says has the best burger and shake combo in the whole city. And she knows from grilled meat, so go! Enjoy!
