Many small landlords defer to the Super’s opinion about prospects because how you talk and act during the showing reveals a lot about you. So always be on your best behavior because you might need the Super’s approval for the apartment.
In large buildings, you might not meet the Super until after you move in. Savvy tenants make a point to introduce themselves as soon as possible because you want to be known as a friendly tenant. The WORST time to meet your Super is when you’re complaining.
